I knew that after the #Scandoval broke our viewing experience of this season of Vanderpump Rules was going to be weird. We were going to be trying to find breadcrumbs throughout the episodes that would lead to Tom and Raquel having an affair and blowing up their lives.
I don’t think I expected to have it be handed to me on a silver platter in the form of Raquel being exposed for having a taken man fetish. I wasn’t expecting to hear on podcasts this week that after the Vegas trip is, after Raquel crashes boys’ night that the affair started.
This was when Ariana was grieving the loss of her dog… so her partner not only chose to leave her for boys’ night, he chose to start a 7 month affair with someone she considered one of her best friends.
Sandoval keeps getting worse and worse.
All week, Andy and others in the Bravosphere said that this episode was not touched, it was not edited and it is being presented as it was intended to before the Scandoval.
Good thing they told us because I would’ve definitely thought it was edited, because it showed Raquel in a horrible light.
I won’t recap the episode but rather just throw my thoughts out there.
Raquel going after Oliver when she knew Lala was interested (and Raquel wasn’t interested until she heard Lala was) shows that she is sneaky and not to be trusted. It’s why Lala says ‘I wouldn’t trust you drinking around my man.”
Raquel’s response is outrageous and the foreshadowing that took place both in real time and during confessionals was eerie.
Raquel sealed her fate right then and there. She is not to be trusted.
When she shows no remorse for going after Schwartz when it’s hurting Katie, she shows that she doesn’t really have a conscience. I really think Raquel is a sociopath - the writing is on the wall.
However, Raquel hearing the girls talk about her and then having a panic attack in the car was sad. As someone who has had hundreds of panic attacks, that was not acting. She had the sweat stains to prove it, and it was sad to see. I quickly moved past that emotion when I was snapped back to reality.
I think if we were watching the episode without knowing what we know, we would’ve been on Raquel’s side. Lala’s message is right but she’s not the best person to deliver it, and I’m not even talking about her relationship with Randall because I think that is too messy - she swears that he told her he was separated and then recently found out he lied, so she was the mistress without really knowing.
I’m talking about James; she apparently slept with James when him and Raquel started dating but it wasn’t necessarily official, at least that’s what I’ve taken from the season. Raquel just found out about this so being lectured on cheating from the woman who slept with your boyfriend isn’t the greatest look.
Charli was annoying and gassing Raquel up for all the wrong reasons; no one in this situation was right expect for maybe Katie, who had a legitimate reason to be mad at Raquel.
The last scene was telling - Raquel and Charli are crashing boys’ night, something that Tom Sandoval was apparently already aware of and when they did show up, Tom had the creepiest smile on his face. It was lingering on Raquel and it was incredibly telling of what is to come.
As I said before, watching the rest of the season after this bombshell was going to be crazy but I don’t know if I was expecting this level of foreshadowing to happen.
The stars have aligned for the most epic season of Vanderpump Rules we’ve ever seen.
